# About

Chinese Cookbook is a static, ad-free collection of 364 Chinese home recipes. Every recipe keeps the same shape: weights, timings, a photo per step, and nothing else.

## How the site is built

- Static site generated by Astro — every page is pre-rendered HTML, so it loads fast and works without JavaScript.
- Search runs entirely in your browser against a ~60 KB index. No requests, no tracking.
- Step photos are served from the dataset's own repository rather than re-hosted, keeping the build small.
- Recipes carry Schema.org markup so search engines can surface them as recipe results.
- Every page has a Markdown twin: send `Accept: text/markdown` (or open the same URL with a `.md` suffix) to get a formatting-free copy.
